Anyone can master a complex system without understanding it. In 2020, an algorithm named MuZero proved this by conquering Go, chess, and Atari completely blind. Not a single rule was programmed in its system. It built no model of physics, ethics, or game theory. It simply predicted a move, measured its prediction error against a target reward, and updated its internal weights. It won by tracking one thing. It tracked the error between its guess and its goal.

This is a breakthrough in math. It is also a template for control.

A machine does not need to understand your soul to steer your destiny. It only needs to make a move, observe your reactions, and make another move to minimize the error toward its chosen goal. The speed of these loops determines the speed of the system.

Power accumulates slowly in human-based systems. Leaders name a problem. Media runs stories. Lawmakers argue. Clerks type documents. Citizens wait, think, or resist. The ultimate beauty of human life is death. No human tyrant can rule forever because their biology has a clock. That decay and ultimate end is the reset button that regulates freedom.

AI is an unprecedented accelerant to power accumulation. Silicon speed removes human delay and can persist forever. We have not seen what the supremely powerful can do when the entire system that relied on slow and decaying human parts is replaced with fast and immortal AI parts.

Powerful actors do not bother lobbying slow human agencies when they can offer those agencies an AI upgrade. First, they automate the regulatory layer under the banner of efficiency. Second, they replace human civil servants with private models trained on the overlord’s preferred metrics. The safety buffer vanishes. Once the government runs on the same fast, immortal code as the corporations it was meant to check, society does not shift over generations. It shifts overnight, locked into a closed feedback loop where the rulers set the score and the machine enforces the alignment.

You cannot fight machine speed with slow human regulation or moral outrage. Real sovereignty requires using the technology without surrendering your mind to its sneaky sabotage. They want you to abandon the ancient tools of deep reading, raw writing, and structured memory for an immutable cloud profile and a chat box that silently re-weights your memories and sands down your edges. You break the loop by combining the old discipline with the new machinery. You craft your own canonical journal entries and creative expression, and you point the AI at your private and personal archive to leverage the modern tools against your own written values. Accelerate your own goals. If you do not define your own errors and hold the raw files that set your scores, you are just an unoptimized variable in someone else’s game.

MuZero proved an agent can win without ever learning the rules. Future machines will not need to understand truth or human dignity to direct the crowd. They only need a target, a lever, and a feedback loop. Sovereignty belongs to whoever defines the error.
